In this geological route, in collaboration with the Council of Cerdido, we will visit the main facilities of the old copper mines (in exploitation until 1969). The main highlights in this route include an old calcination chimney, a chemical treatment plant or the tailings ponds (“entulleiras”). You will learn first hand how these mines were exploited, what minerals were obtained from them, as well as the geology of the materials present in this area.
The route has a low difficulty, but it is advisable to wear comfortable shoes. The journey between the different stops will be made in private cars.
